Le Rêve Foundation

Domaine Carneros proudly supports young women pursuing careers in winemaking, wine studies or related culinary arts. In 2001, Domaine Carneros and Champagne Taittinger funded Le Rêve Foundation, which annually awards two scholarships to U.C. Davis Dept. of Viticulture and Enology, and to the Greystone Campus of The Culinary Institute of America.

Women & Wine Series

In 2002, “Frivolités” Brut Rosé was released to celebrate the 90th birthday of America’s culinary grande dame, Julia Child. This lovely wine was created to celebrate Julia Childs’ 90th Birthday and to fund a culinary endowment in her name at COPIA.
In 2005, Domaine Carneros honored the centennial of Greta Garbo’s birth with the release of the 2001 Greta Garbo Brut Rosé. Greta Garbo referred to as “La Divina” (the Divine one) lived a life of international fame, accomplishment and romance. As a grand tribute to this legendary star, Domaine Carneros produced the Greta Garbo Rosé sparkling wine to celebrate the centennial of her birth. Her love of elegance, Champagne and the color pink made our first-ever vintage Rosé the natural choice.

Domaine Carneros is very passionate about supporting causes. Through Clinic Olé, Domaine Carneros has established the Domaine Carneros Breast Cancer Prevention & Treatment Fund. Proceeds from sales of 2001 Greta Garbo Brut Rosé went towards this fund. Since 1972, Community Health Clinic Olé has provided accessible, affordable, quality health care to the under served in Napa County. Clinic Olé is the only health care provider in Napa County that charges for services on a sliding fee scale, taking into account an individual's income before assessing the fees.

In 2008, Domaine Carneros released the 2004 Ella Fitzgerald™ Brut Rosé. As a grand tribute to the legendary Ella Fitzgerald, Domaine Carneros produced the Ella Fitzgerald Rosé sparkling wine to celebrate the accomplishments of “The First Lady of Song” and to commemorate the 50th anniversary of her first Grammy win in 1958 for Best Female Vocal Performance and Best Individual Jazz Performance. A portion of all the proceeds of the 2004 Ella Fitzgerald Brut Rosé benefited the Ella Fitzgerald Foundation (http://www.ellafitzgeraldfoundation.org/). Another portion of the proceeds from the release event for the Ella Fitzgerald™ Brut Rosé benefited local youth jazz-music education programs – Sonoma Valley High School, Napa Valley Unified School District and SFJAZZ Youth Program.

The Ella Fitzgerald Foundation was created in 1993 by Ella Fitzgerald, in order to “fulfill her desires to use the fruits of her success to help people of all races, cultures and beliefs.”
