Just around the corner from our Pompadour vineyard lays a ranch belonging to Ron Palmer. Ron planted Wente clone Chardonnay in 1983 with budwood sourced from Buena Vista. The fruit is as good now as it was then. So good in fact, that when André Tschelistcheff purchased the grapes back in the late 80’s he declared them his best Chardonnay. We are proud to release the third bottling of Single Vineyard Chardonnay with grapes from this historic and pedigreed site.
There is purity to this wine that asserts itself as the first delicate notes rise from the glass. Hints of citrus and stone fruit indicate the precision and focus that drive this wine. The palate offers lemon pith and river stone with a mouthwatering acidity that offers freshness without austerity. Modest ripeness eliminates any heat on the finish from excess alcohol. Respectful treatment in the cellar allows the varietal character of old vine Chardonnay to enjoy the spotlight. 263 cases produced.
Varietal: 100% Chardonnay
