Michelle Rogers' story begins on a small farm in Carneros, just outside the Sonoma city limits. "I grew up on a farm," Michelle recalls. "My mother, a single young woman with two daughters, managed to buy a farm, raise animals, and gift me my first horse."
That first horse sparked a lifelong passion. Her mother's remarkable journey—building a successful career as a lawyer, then a judge, and now a doctor—instilled in Michelle the strength to pursue her own dreams. "Her passion for hard work and becoming successful gave me the strength to pursue my own dreams," she reflects.
Those dreams took Michelle across the country for over 35 years, managing professional horse barns, competing in the show ring, and training and breeding horses. But her connection to animals went beyond horses. With a deep love for animal welfare, Michelle spent 13 years as Sergeant for Animal Services at a Marin County shelter, working as an animal cruelty investigator.
"I eventually became fatigued with the trauma and drama surrounding this line of work," Michelle admits. "I eventually went back to my horse knowledge and developed a plan on how to share them with my community."
Returning to her hometown as a single mother with a daughter of her own, Michelle came full circle. "My love for Sonoma Valley and horses conceptualized a 'ride and wine' idea," she explains. After successfully developing a trail riding program for a Napa winery, Michelle branched out independently, opening Sonoma Valley Trail Rides in 2018.
Today, Michelle leads a team of professional horse wranglers and wine specialists who share her passion for creating unforgettable experiences in Sonoma Valley.
