Sparkling wine is meant to be savored at the right temperature. Discover our favorite ways to chill a bottle quickly, maintain the ideal serving temperature, and keep every sip cool.

Find the Goldilocks Zone

Bubbles are a little particular about temperature (aren't we all?). The sweet spot for most sparkling wines is 45–50°F, cold enough to keep those bubbles lively, warm enough to let the aromas do their thing. Serve it too warm and you'll get an eager, foamy surprise the moment you pop the cork. Too cold and you'll mute all that beautiful effervescence and bouquet.

Balance, darling. It's always about balance.

In a Hurry? Try the Paper Towel Trick

Forgot to chill the bottle and guests are already at the door? No judgment, we've all been there.

Here's our favorite shortcut: wrap your bottle in a damp paper towel and pop it in the freezer for 10–15 minutes. The damp towel conducts cold faster than the freezer air alone, so your bottle chills in a fraction of the time it would take on its own.

One friendly reminder, though. Set a timer. Walk away and forget about it, and you risk a very dramatic (and very messy) freezer situation. Fifteen minutes, then straight to the ice bucket or the table.

The Ice Bucket, Elevated

If you have a bit more time on your hands, an ice bucket is still the most glamorous way to keep your bottle at the perfect temperature.

Our secret? Add two cups of kosher salt to your ice and cold water before nestling the bottle in. Salt lowers the freezing point of the water, which means faster, colder chilling. Science in service of celebration.

Floral Ice Cubes

Floral Ice Cubes

Add some beauty to your ice bucket with floral ice cubes! They're a simple, gorgeous way to elevate the whole presentation.

Frozen Fruit

Instead of ice cubes, which can water down your glass as they melt, try frozen berries instead. Raspberries, blackberries, or a few frozen grapes are gorgeous, practical, and delicious.

Timing is everything, though. Drop your frozen fruit into the glass right before you pour, not while the wine is chilling in the bottle. This does two lovely things: the fruit keeps your glass cold without diluting the wine, and as it slowly thaws, it releases the tiniest whisper of fruity sweetness into every sip.

Storing Your Bottle at The Right Temp

If you're holding onto a bottle for a special occasion (bravo on your restraint), store it horizontally, in a cool, dark spot around 55°F, away from light and vibration. Consistency is the name of the game. Swings in temperature are what age a wine before its time.

Here's to Staying Cool

With temperatures soaring this summer, we hope you find plenty of ways to stay cool, and a perfectly chilled glass of sparkling wine is one of our favorites.

Here's to long summer days, good company, and a glass that's always just the right temperature. Cheers!
